Parliament Building: The heaviest building in the world, and a marvel to behold.

Exploring Bucharest

Bucharest, Romania, is an intriguing destination filled with charm and surprises. From quirky bars like The Vault Bar to serene escapes such as Herastrau Park and the lively Old Town, there’s something for everyone. Conveniently, the airport is close to the city, and once you arrive, you’ll find that accommodation, food, and drinks are all very affordable. For transport, we recommend using Uber—we never spent more than £10 to get anywhere.

If you’re planning a visit, two days is ideal, though adding a third day gives you the luxury of dedicating a full day to Therme Bucharest. Here’s how to make the most of your time:

  • Day 1: Stroll through Old Town, enjoy dinner at Caru Cu Bere, and explore the vibrant bar scene.
  • Day 2: Venture to Herastrau Park, visit nearby shopping malls, and discover more of Bucharest’s hidden gems.
Herastrau Park: A picturesque park with cafes, a boating lake, wild turtles, and plenty of fish.

A Side Trip to Brasov

If time allows, consider a trip to Brasov to see the famous “Dracula Castle.” The journey takes about three hours. However, locals advised against driving yourself, and public transport options are limited. A guided tour through a third-party provider is the best option. Unfortunately, we couldn’t fit this into our itinerary, but it’s high on our list for next time.
